Hearings for West Bengal's Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls commenced across 294 constituencies, with over 3.1 million "unmapped" voters summoned. The process sparked controversy when TMC MP Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar alleged harassment by the Election Commission after four of her family members, including her elderly mother and sons, were called for hearings. While the EC stated the summons were due to documentation mismatches, TMC leaders accused the commission of acting on BJP instructions to delete genuine voters. The BJP countered that the EC is cleaning up the voter list.
