Union Home Minister Amit Shah has accused the Mamata Banerjee government of abetting illegal infiltration from Bangladesh for electoral gain and hindering border fencing efforts. Addressing a press conference in Kolkata, Shah claimed that "fear and corruption" have defined West Bengal for 14 years, stalling development and affecting welfare schemes. He asserted that if the BJP comes to power in 2026, they will identify and expel infiltrators, revive the state's heritage, and establish a national grid to stop infiltration.
