The Ministry of Home Affairs has assigned Rakesh Aggarwal, the NIA's Special Director General, the additional charge of Director General of the National Investigation Agency. This follows the premature repatriation of the incumbent, Sadanand Vasant Date. Aggarwal, a 1994-batch IPS officer, will hold the position until a regular appointment is made. The move is an administrative measure to ensure continuity in leadership at the counter-terrorism agency.
