The Indian government has no plans to change its land acquisition policy, despite it being a significant impediment to infrastructure project completion, according to Cabinet Secretary T.V. Somanathan. Speaking after a PRAGATI meeting, he noted that land acquisition issues accounted for 35% of the 7,156 problems resolved through the project review mechanism. The PRAGATI platform, chaired by the Prime Minister, expedites projects over Rs 500 crore, with states actively participating in resolving issues.
