Odisha's State Transport Authority (STA) has directed agencies to regularly clean roads, citing spillage of sand, soil, and debris as a cause of serious accidents. STA Chairman Amitabh Thakur emphasized the duty of road-owning and maintaining bodies, as well as municipal corporations, to ensure roads are free from hazards. The directive advises increased cleaning frequency in high-risk areas and warns of accountability for lapses.
