India has introduced its first national standard, IS 19445:2025, for bomb disposal systems, developed by the Bureau of Indian Standards at the request of the Ministry of Home Affairs. This standard provides guidelines for evaluating systems against blast loads and splinter effects, aiming to enhance security preparedness. It is intended for voluntary adoption and seeks to ensure uniformity in testing, promote quality manufacturing, and boost confidence in systems used by various security forces facing threats from explosive devices.
