The Enforcement Directorate (ED) conducted raids at nine locations in Chhattisgarh's Raipur and Mahasamund districts concerning alleged irregularities in land acquisition compensation for the Bharatmala Project's Raipur-Visakhapatnam economic corridor. The ED is investigating suspected financial irregularities, including inflated or misappropriated compensation payments, under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act. These searches target individuals linked to land brokering, government officials, and landowners. State police have previously arrested individuals in connection with alleged embezzlement of Rs 32 crore, while opposition parties claim the scam is much larger.
