India's Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train project achieved a significant milestone with the breakthrough of Mountain Tunnel-5 in Palghar, Maharashtra. This 1.5-km tunnel is the first and longest of seven mountain tunnels planned for the corridor. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw highlighted the project's progress, noting 12 stations and three depots, with the additional depot attributed to past approval delays in Maharashtra. The 508-km corridor, supported by Japan, aims for speeds of 320 kmph.
