Uttar Pradesh's draft electoral rolls published in January 2025 show a decline in the gender ratio from 877 to 824 women per 1,000 men, with 15.4 million female voter names deleted compared to 13.4 million male names. Chief Electoral Officer Navdeep Rinwa attributed the deletions mainly to removal of duplicate entries where women were registered at both parental and in-law addresses. Urban areas saw higher deletion rates (28%) than rural areas (15.23%), reducing total voters from 125.5 million to 125.5 million in the draft list.
