Ashwini Vaishnaw Urges Digital Platforms to Compensate Creators and Regulate AI Content

At the Digital News Publishers Association Conclave 2026, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw urged digital platforms to ensure fair compensation for content creators or face legal action. He emphasized that platforms must take responsibility for hosted content, including safeguarding online safety, especially for children. Vaishnaw highlighted the risks posed by deepfakes and misinformation, calling for regulation of AI-generated synthetic content, which should not be created without individuals' consent. He stressed that maintaining public trust in institutions requires cooperation from digital platforms.
