
In the upcoming Jalna Municipal Corporation elections, the ruling Mahayuti alliance has fielded Muslim candidates, with the BJP nominating several and allies Shiv Sena and NCP nominating 7 and 17 respectively. The opposition Mahavikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance, including Congress, Shiv Sena (UBT), and NCP (SP), is also contesting, with Congress fielding 19 Muslim candidates. AIMIM is contesting 17 seats in Muslim-dominated areas, presenting itself as an alternative. Elections for 29 municipal corporations, including Jalna, are scheduled for January 15.
