
The Maharashtra state cabinet approved a 20,000 crore Police Housing Township Project to develop 40,000 to 45,000 residential units for Mumbai Police personnel across approximately 50 million square feet. The Maharashtra State Infrastructure Development Corporation will implement the project, funded 30% by the government and 70% through loans. The initiative aims to replace old, dilapidated quarters and reduce long commutes for over 51,000 police staff. An initial 100 crore fund was allocated for feasibility studies and project initiation.
