West Bengal Transfers 142.79 Acres to BSF for India-Bangladesh Border Fencing
West Bengal has transferred 142.79 acres of land across nine border districts to the Border Security Force (BSF) for constructing outposts and barbed-wire fencing along the India-Bangladesh border. This move, announced by Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari, is part of the state government's plan to hand over 600 acres within 45 days to enhance border security and address illegal immigration. District-wise allocations include Murshidabad (38.8 acres), Jalpaiguri (35.16 acres), and Cooch Behar (22.9 acres). Approximately 1,600 km of the 2,217-km border is already fenced.
