Alex Saab, a Colombian-Venezuelan businessman and ally of former Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, was reportedly detained in Venezuela in a joint operation involving U.S. and Venezuelan authorities. Saab, previously held in the U.S. on bribery charges and granted clemency in 2023, is expected to be extradited to the U.S. However, Saab's lawyer and government-aligned journalists have denied the arrest. The operation also involved Raul Gorrin, a Venezuelan media executive. The detentions indicate increased cooperation under interim President Delcy Rodriguez's administration.
