Model Code of Conduct Enforced Ahead of Puducherry Assembly Elections on April 9

The Model Code of Conduct (MCC) has come into effect in Puducherry ahead of the Assembly elections scheduled for April 9. Chief Electoral Officer P. Jawahar urged political parties, candidates, and government officials to comply with the MCC to ensure free, fair, and peaceful polls. The election will cover 30 constituencies with 9.44 lakh voters. Measures include deployment of Central Armed Police Forces, exclusive management of polling booths by women staff, and monitoring of vulnerable areas. Violations by government staff or political entities will face strict disciplinary and legal action.
