Bharatiya Janata Party MP Sambit Patra criticized West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for her remarks towards Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Patra stated Banerjee's comments, made after a clash over "illegal infiltrators" and electoral roll revisions, constituted a threat not only to Shah but to India itself. He quoted Banerjee as saying Shah was "hiding inside a hotel" and fortunate to have been allowed to leave.
