Two Detained After Suspicious Devices Thrown Near NYC Mayor Mamdani's Residence Amid Protests

During an anti-Muslim protest organized by far-right influencer Jake Lang outside New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani's residence, tensions escalated between about 20 protesters and roughly 125 counter-protesters. An 18-year-old counter-protester ignited and threw two suspicious devices containing nuts, bolts, screws, and fuses near the protest area. The devices extinguished without causing injuries. Police detained six individuals, including the two suspects involved with the devices. Authorities are investigating whether the devices were functional explosives or hoaxes. Mayor Mamdani and his wife were not home and remain safe.
