Mumbai Deploys Security and Geo-Fencing for 2026 BMC Elections

Mumbai's Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections commenced on January 15 with voting across 227 wards. Over 28,000 police personnel were deployed to maintain order, enforcing restrictions like banning mobile phones and campaign materials near polling stations. For the first time, a geo-fencing system monitored 2,865 vehicles transporting election materials and staff, enabling real-time tracking and alerts to ensure smooth election logistics and security.
