Maharashtra Labour Minister Akash Fundkar announced that the Centre has introduced a social security code effective since November 2025, defining gig and platform workers' status and providing benefits like healthcare and insurance. A national social security board for these workers will be established soon, superseding state laws in Rajasthan and Karnataka. The state is also coordinating with the National Textile Corporation to clear pending dues of workers from four closed Mumbai mills within a year, following Bombay High Court directions.
