
India achieved a record 44.5 GW of renewable energy capacity addition by November 2025, nearly doubling the previous year's figures. This brings the total installed renewable capacity to 253.96 GW, with solar contributing significantly at 35 GW added this year. The country's non-fossil fuel capacity now stands at 262.74 GW, representing over 51% of the total installed electricity capacity, ahead of its 2030 Paris Agreement target. Government initiatives like the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana are also driving rooftop solar adoption.
