Archaeologists in Jammu and Kashmir's Baramulla district have uncovered a significant Buddhist complex dating back nearly 2,000 years. The discovery in Zehanpora village, located along an ancient Silk Route, includes Buddhist stupas, an urban settlement, Kushan-era pottery shards, and copper artifacts. Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted the find, noting that blurred photographs from a French museum aided in identifying the stupas. This discovery places Kashmir within the Gandhara Buddhist network, reinforcing its historical role as a center for Buddhist learning and monastic activities.
