An under-construction reinforced cement concrete bridge over the Ghoghari River in Gopalganj, Bihar, collapsed during concrete pouring without causing injuries. The 29-metre bridge, costing around Rs 2.89 crore, faced allegations of substandard materials and weak reinforcement from locals. The District Magistrate ordered suspension and termination of responsible engineers and blacklisted the contractor. Authorities have halted work and initiated a technical inquiry amid concerns over repeated bridge failures in Bihar.
