West Bengal's CEO office dismissed allegations that election officials were responsible for the death of an 82-year-old man, Durjan Majhi, who died after allegedly jumping in front of a train. Majhi's son claimed his father was anxious about a hearing related to the voter list revision process. The CEO's office called the allegations a "crude attempt to browbeat officers" and vowed to uncover any conspiracy, asserting commitment to public interest. The Election Commission also issued an order allowing exemptions for elderly, sick, or disabled individuals from personal hearings.
