T.T.V. Dhinakaran, General Secretary of Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam, urged the Tamil Nadu government and police to strictly curb the sale of ganja and other banned substances. He cited the arrest of a woman from Kannagi Nagar, alleging she was a DMK member and that the ruling party was promoting drug sales. Dhinakaran also criticized police monitoring of history-sheeters and called for a thorough investigation into the Kannagi Nagar incident.
