NHRC Chief Calls for Overhaul of Paris Principles Amid Global Conflicts

At the Raisina Dialogue, NHRC chairperson Justice V Ramasubramanian called for a complete overhaul of the Paris Principles, arguing they offer only a superficial framework for human rights institutions. Highlighting ongoing global conflicts, he noted the challenge world leaders face in speaking the full truth due to diplomatic constraints. He emphasized the need for collaboration among National Human Rights Institutions worldwide to strengthen civil society and hold governments accountable, regardless of historical roles as perpetrators or victims.
