The Indian Navy's indigenously built traditional stitched sailing vessel INSV Kaundinya completed its historic 18-day voyage from Porbandar, Gujarat, to Muscat, Oman. Based on a 5th-century CE ship depicted in Ajanta Cave paintings, the vessel was constructed using traditional stitching methods by skilled artisans from Kerala. The project, funded by the Ministry of Culture and overseen by the Indian Navy, highlights India's ancient maritime heritage and the longstanding cultural ties between India and Oman. The 16-member crew included Prime Minister's Economic Advisory Council member Sanjeev Sanyal, who shared updates throughout the journey.
