Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan stated that over 10,653 financial irregularities were detected in Punjab's MGNREGA implementation, with no funds recovered. This occurred as the Punjab Assembly convened a special session to oppose the Centre's new Viksit Bharat Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) Act. The minister accused the state government of violating federalism by protesting the Act, while the state government views the new law as a threat to rural employment. The BJP suggested the AAP government is using the issue to distract from alleged corruption in MGNREGA.
