Railway Ministry Warns Pensioners Against Cyber Fraud and Strengthens Security Measures

The Ministry of Railways has issued a warning to railway pensioners about increasing cyber fraud attempts involving fake calls and messages claiming to update pension payment orders (PPOs) or service records. Officials clarified that no Railway employee is authorized to request bank details, OTPs, or passwords via phone, SMS, WhatsApp, or social media. Pensioners are urged to remain vigilant, avoid sharing confidential information, and report suspicious communications to the Police Cyber Cell and administrative offices. Enhanced cybersecurity measures in 2025 have also led to the deactivation of over 3 crore suspicious user IDs, protecting the e-ticketing system from malicious bot attacks.
