The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC) has informed the Supreme Court that it has no objection to the Central Empowered Committee's proposed 10-member high-powered expert committee tasked with defining the Aravalli hills and ranges uniformly. The committee, to be chaired by Kanchan Devi, director general of the Indian Council of Forestry Research Education, includes experts from the Forest Survey of India, Geological Survey of India, Survey of India, and academicians. The MoEFCC emphasized the need for a comprehensive, analytical examination with stakeholder consultation to address the complex aspects of the Aravalli region.
