The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has blocked five OTT platforms—MoodXVIP, Koyal Playpro, Digi Movieplex, Feel, and Jugnu—for allegedly streaming obscene content. The action, taken under Section 69A of the Information Technology Act, 2000, directs internet service providers to restrict access to these platforms. This move follows due legal procedure and aligns with the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021, aiming to maintain public decency, safeguard national interests, and enforce ethical standards. The government has previously blocked 25 OTT platforms for similar reasons, citing violations of Indian laws related to obscenity and indecent representation.
