Komkar village in Arunachal Pradesh's Upper Siang district has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the state government, formally backing the Pre-Feasibility Report (PFR) for the Siang Upper Multipurpose Project (SUMP). Over 95 percent of village households consented to the PFR studies, a project declared of national importance in 2008. Village representatives expressed commitment to national interest and regional prosperity, appreciating the government's consultations on strategic and ecological aspects. Chief Minister Pema Khandu emphasized that the MoU is solely for PFR preparation, assuring further consultations before any construction decisions.
