The first shipment of Food Corporation of India (FCI) rice, totaling approximately 25,900 quintals from Punjab, has arrived at Mizoram's Sairang Railway Station. This new rail link, operational via the Bairabi-Sairang route, aims to reduce delays caused by previous reliance on road transport. Sairang will serve as the main hub for rice distribution to Aizawl and southern districts, while Bairabi continues to supply northern areas. Officials highlighted the significance of this development for stock security ahead of the monsoon season and ongoing efforts to procure higher-quality rice.
