US fighter jets reportedly struck military facilities on a mountain near Iran's Chabahar Free Trade Zone in Sistan and Baluchestan province, close to the Pakistan border. Explosions were heard behind the trade zone, which hosts both commercial and military infrastructure. Chabahar Port, operated partly by India, is strategically important as it provides direct access to the Indian Ocean, bypassing the Strait of Hormuz. The strikes mark a new phase in the ongoing US-Iran conflict, which escalated after recent US-Israeli airstrikes in Iran.
