A copper pot containing approximately 470 grams of gold ornaments was discovered by a resident digging a foundation in Lakkundi, Karnataka. The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) official Ramesh Mulimani stated the find is likely not ancient treasure but ornaments buried by ancestors for safekeeping, citing broken pieces and lack of coins for dating. However, the Lakkundi Heritage Area Development Authority disputes this, asserting that anything found underground is considered treasure by rule. The ornaments have been secured by the government.
