Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar criticized the BJP's rule over the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) from 2017-2022 and subsequent administrators, alleging the civic body is 'neck-deep in debt' and its deposits have drastically reduced. Pawar claimed PCMC's deposits fell from over Rs 4,400 crore to Rs 2,000 crore, with an alleged Rs 8,000 crore in deposits 'unlocked' without visible development. He also pointed to unnecessary expenditures and the floating of bonds impacting the civic body.
