
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has assured through newspaper advertisements that Waqf properties in the state will be protected and the new Waqf Amendment Act will not be implemented. The state government opposes the Act, having filed a Supreme Court petition and passed a resolution requesting its withdrawal. The government stated that allegations of inaction are baseless, as existing Waqf properties are already registered on a central portal.
