The Census of India 2027 will be conducted as the country's first fully digital census, utilizing the Census Management and Monitoring System (CMMS) portal. Over 3.2 million enumerators and supervisors will use handheld devices and geotagged mapping tools to collect detailed demographic, socio-economic, and housing data. The census will occur in two phases: house listing from April to September 2026 and population enumeration in February 2027. Real-time monitoring via CMMS aims to enhance data quality, efficiency, and timely completion.
