The National Cadet Corps (NCC) plans to train one lakh cadets as 'Yuva Apda Mitras' to act as first responders for natural disasters. Additionally, 10,000 cadets will be trained as 'cyber warriors' to bolster digital defense. The NCC is also establishing drone and counter-drone training hubs. These initiatives aim to enhance national security and disaster management capabilities. For the first time, NCC parade commanders will carry swords during the 2026 Republic Day Parade. The NCC also aims to increase its total strength to 20 lakh by 2028.
