The Ministry of Home Affairs has provided West Bengal's Chief Electoral Officer, Manoj Agarwal, with 'Y-plus' category armed CISF security. This decision, based on intelligence threat reports, coincides with the sensitive hearing phase of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. The move comes amid political controversy, with the Trinamool Congress accusing the Election Commission of deleting voters' names during the SIR exercise, which aims to update electoral rolls ahead of upcoming elections.
