Congress Protests Against Renaming and Changes to MGNREGA Scheme

Congress parties across Haryana and Tamil Nadu protested against the Union Government's renaming of the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) to the Viksit Bharat-Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) Act, 2025. Protesters argued the change weakens employment guarantees for rural poor, shifts 40% funding burden to states, and undermines Mahatma Gandhi's legacy.
