Centre to Resume High-Powered Committee Talks with Ladakh Leaders on February 4

The Union Ministry of Home Affairs will hold the next meeting of the High-Powered Committee (HPC) on Ladakh on February 4, 2026, chaired by Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai. The talks resume after a suspension following violent clashes in September 2025, which resulted in four deaths. The Leh Apex Body and Kargil Democratic Alliance seek constitutional safeguards, Sixth Schedule tribal status, statehood, release of detained activists, and compensation for victims. The HPC aims to protect Ladakh's unique culture, language, and local rights considering its strategic importance.
