Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) has asked the Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) to resume work on the Velachery flyover, stalled since November. CMRL stated that integration with the upcoming Tambaram-Guindy-Velachery Metro line is not feasible due to differing project stages. The flyover is in an advanced construction phase, while the Metro's Detailed Project Report is still being finalized, making synchronization impossible. CMRL will address land acquisition and demolition during its own construction.
