Parveen Kumar Sharma of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) was elected Mayor of Moga Municipal Corporation, securing 31 out of 48 votes amid opposition boycott. The election followed the removal of former mayor Baljit Singh Chani, expelled by AAP over alleged links to drug traffickers. The process, ordered by the Punjab and Haryana High Court, was reportedly conducted smoothly and video-recorded. Opposition parties, including Congress and Shiromani Akali Dal, protested alleged coercion and did not field candidates.
