Drone and Rocket Attacks Target US Embassy, Hotel, and Oilfield in Baghdad Amid Regional Tensions

On March 17, Baghdad's US Embassy and a nearby hotel were targeted in coordinated drone and rocket attacks, marking the most intense assault since the Iran-US-Israel conflict began in late February. Iraqi air defences intercepted several drones, though at least one drone struck inside the embassy compound, causing fire and material damage but no casualties. Simultaneous strikes also hit the Majnoon oil field in southern Iraq. Separately, an air raid killed at least four people at a site linked to Iran-backed militias in Baghdad, escalating regional tensions.
