Drones and Rockets Target US Embassy in Baghdad Amid Regional Tensions

On March 17, Baghdad's US embassy was targeted in a coordinated attack involving at least five drones and multiple rockets, marking the most intense assault since the US-Israel conflict with Iran began on February 28. Iraqi security sources reported that air defence systems intercepted several drones and rockets, though one drone struck inside the embassy compound, causing fire and smoke but no casualties. The attacks coincided with strikes on oil fields in southern Iraq and border areas, amid ongoing tensions involving Iranian-backed militias and recent clashes near Syria.
