
India's Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, led by Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, is intensifying maritime security measures in the Persian Gulf and surrounding waters amid regional tensions. Enhanced monitoring, real-time tracking, and mandatory reporting protocols have been activated for Indian-flagged vessels and seafarers. Approximately 23,000 Indian seafarers and 37 vessels operate in the region. The ministry coordinates with national and international agencies to ensure safety and is prepared to respond to emerging developments affecting maritime assets and personnel.
