Karnataka High Court Directs Enforcement of Crowd Control SOP Pending New Bill

The Karnataka High Court closed its suo motu PIL concerning the June 2025 stampede outside Bengaluru's M. Chinnaswamy Stadium that resulted in 11 deaths. The court directed the state government to enforce a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for crowd control until the proposed Karnataka Crowd Control Bill, 2025, is enacted. The SOP, incorporating suggestions from the amicus curiae and stakeholders, is under review by the Assembly's scrutiny committee. The court allowed reopening the petition if necessary.
