
Two recent court rulings addressed property disputes involving wills and inheritance. The Supreme Court upheld a daughter-in-law's title to a rented shop via a probated Will, ordering tenant eviction and payment of 25 years' rent arrears due to the landlord's business needs. Separately, the Kerala High Court ruled that a son has no birthright to self-acquired property gifted by his father to his mother, upholding the mother's Will excluding the son from a 46-cent land share.
