Udhampur Civil Airport to Begin Operations Soon, Plans for Future Expansion Announced
Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh announced that the Udhampur civil airport is expected to become operational within months, initially handling ATR aircraft to enhance regional connectivity in Jammu and Kashmir. The project aims to boost tourism, trade, investment, and employment. Discussions are ongoing with the Jammu and Kashmir government to acquire additional land for future expansion, potentially developing the airport similar to Jammu Airport. Singh highlighted this initiative as part of broader infrastructure improvements, including tunnels, expressways, and train services enhancing the region's connectivity.
