India and Canada Sign Uranium Supply Deal to Support Nuclear Energy Expansion

India and Canada signed a CAD 2.6 billion, 10-year uranium supply deal under the 2010 Civil Nuclear Cooperation Agreement, ensuring around 10,000 tonnes of uranium between 2027 and 2035. This agreement supports India's goal of expanding nuclear energy capacity to 100 gigawatts by 2047 amid domestic uranium production shortfalls. The deal marks a renewal of bilateral ties, building on historical cooperation in nuclear technology and addressing India's energy security and regulatory reforms enabling private and foreign participation.
